“We need to celebrate the art of fashion, and the design of fashion. And maybe we just
need to all slow down and enjoy it much more, and not always be saying ‘what’s new?’, ‘what’s next?’. .
Anna Wintour
Hello Fashion and Arts Enthusiasts!
I’m writing with great enthusiasm as it signifies a new beginning for FATA! This time is even more exciting than the last. We’ve made some changes, upgrades and added new features. Check out our new Lifestyles, Culture and Int’l Windows categories. In addition to our new features, we proudly introduced The FATA Fund Inc., our newly established non-profit organization.
We will be able to continue the Fashion and the Arts platform, as well as provide financial assistance for fashion designers, artists and art based initiatives, focusing foremost on disadvantaged communities, but our help will be available to all. There was nothing more heart wrenching for me than when an artist had trouble showing up for a performance because she didn’t have a metro card to get there. The “struggling” artist is a real phenom.
The Art and Entertainment industry took a huge hit in 2020 due to Covid-19. Many organizations struggled to stay afloat and unfortunately, far more sunk, never to be seen again. As Anna Wintour said in the quote above, "maybe we need to slow down and enjoy it much more" but more importantly, together we must embrace what's new, live for what's now and readjust for what's next.
Finally, I want to make mention of this newly added Editorial page. We get to hear from you. What's on your mind in the Fashion, Art and Cultural world around the globe. Let's all share thoughts and learn new things. Knowledge and respect is power. Vital to making the world a better place.
Submit your article and expose us to new horizons.
Thanks for visiting the Fashion and The Arts website.
I am so grateful for your continued support.

Mass Books November 11, 2022. I Just Wanna Surf captures the friction of finding one’s identity and community during the pandemic and post-George Floyd era in a sport dominated by white men. Growing up in one of the only mixed-race Black families in a small Orange County beach town, Angotti-Jones reflects on how her early relationship with the ocean and Californian surf culture became intertwined with her identity as a Black woman. In a mix of photo book, zine, and diary, Angotti-Jones challenges the traditional surfing narrative by documenting Black women and non-binary surfers living the surfing lifestyle inspired by 1990s and early 2000s surf culture, while making it their own.

The Zoe Report 11/10/2022 Adesuwa Aighewi knows what it’s like to feel rootless. As a member of the African diaspora, and as someone who moved from place to place often growing up — and continues to do so today as a globetrotting, in-demand model — Aighewi’s desire for the feeling of home pushed her to begin work on a creative endeavor in 2018. It would take four years and a great deal of international travel for field research to launch her Legacy project, which connects the talented artisans she’s met in her travels with a global audience, this past October. French stylist, designer, influencer and author Lucie Carassco is one of the only designers with a disability herself. She was adopted by a glamorous mother who instilled an appreciation of visual beauty in her. She loves Marilyn Monroe and designing apparel was a natural progression. Her first clothing line debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011 which of course included designs for the disabled. You can check her out on Twitter and Instagram.
Simone Smith launched her women’s jewelry collection after recovering from a near-fatal bout of rare bone cancer with her first design, a lollipop pendant called A Sweet Touch of Hope, becoming her signature. Now, with this year being the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, Smith turned her attention to men and will launch a mens line called Majesty at the end of the month with elevated materials and price points from her previous Legacy mens line. "Paying homage to the hip-hop culture,” the pieces are as larger and chunkier as well, Smith said, adding that they were inspired by looks popular in the ’80s and ’90s.

Whether it was dark and broody, athleisure, eveningwear, streetwear, or even the classic chic look, the brand pulled straight from the archives for this collection and made sure to keep all of the fun with leg warmers, bright colors, heavy layered necklaces, and light up heels!
